Our American Dreams Project explores the concept of the “American Dream” through a cultural geography lens. In doing so, we investigate the ways in which place, identity and power intersect to (re)create and (re)define the promises that America holds for her people.
In this podcast series, we explore these concepts through an engagement with the promise of educational equity in American schools. By focusing our attention on educational equity, we highlight the uneven terrain youth in America must navigate to access a quality education, often touted as the key to future success. Further, these podcasts seek to offer complex analyses in order to unpack over-simplified rhetoric and discourse that animates much of the public engagement with such issues. In doing so, we hope the work presented here serves to catalyze deeper discussion and debate on the very important issue of educational equity in the United States.
